Bill Mok, The Sensei
[The Other Side of Bill Mok (29 Nov 1944 - 30 Mar 2015)]
Bill was such a modest guy and few of us actually knew the what he had achieved in the world of Karatedo (空手道). Some of you even mistakenly thought that he practised 跆拳道 instead ! To put that matter straight, Bill practiced in dojo’s of the Hong Kong branch of Seigokan (正剛館) All Japan Karate-do Association (SAJKA) which is under Karate’s 剛柔流派.
Before I go any further, I knew Bill had started to learn Karate after I left Hong Kong in 1962 and here’s what he had achieved :-
“………. Two senior members of Seigokan took important roles in continental and world karate affairs. The late Jose Martins Achiam7th Dan (1944-2008) …and Bill K.S. Mok (7th Dan) was an Executive Committee Member of World Karate Federation 2004-2010 and Secretary General of Asian Karatedo Federation 2008-2010.”

While it is difficult laymen to know exactly what a Karate Black Belt 7th Dan means – but perhaps it would help to bear in mind that in the whole world, there is ONLY ONE Karate Black Belt 9th Dan !

Seigokan (正剛館) is the Goju-Ryu Karate-do organization founded in 1945 by Seigo Tada (1922-1997) Hanshi (8th Dan). With its Hombu Dojo (headquarters) in Himeji, Japan, the Seigokan All Japan Karate-do Association (SAJKA) — its official name — has branches in Australia, Brazil, Canada, China (including Hong Kong and Macau), India, Italy, the Philippines, Portugal, Sri Lanka, the United States, England, Chile, Colombia and Venezuela.
Master Seigo Tada was a pupil of Chojun Miyagi and the head of the Karate Club at Ritsumeikan University. In the 1960s, Seigokan was considered the most important Goju-Ryu Association (Kai-Ha) in Japan, with more than 200,000 members.
