《CCCC Day 7 -- in Ontario》__ Bonbon Hu (65)

Cross Canada coast to coast  Day 7, June 6, 2014.

Day 7 in Ontario.

Francis had very heavy surgical bookings today, and he had to leave home at 6:45 am. We hugged farewell. I left at 7:15 am, also will big hug from Shari. They are so hospitable.

It was 15C but sunny, all the way to the Ontario border as the prairie. Once I got into Ontario near Kenora, the scenery is so lush, with rolling "hills", lots of trees about half the height of those in BC/AB, but with lots more varieties. I rode in very gently winding rolls in hilly contours. It was very enjoyable.

The ride to Thunder Bay was uneventful. Thank goodness for a sunny day. Temperature ranges from 15C - 29C. There were few vehicles on the highway, so I was able to enjoy the view. I was even able to see different kinds of cloud formations. I saw the contrails of a jet. So far, for a whole week, I had only been bitten by one mosquito. Not bad.

Today I covered about 700 Km. I looked at the map, I am in the midpoint of cross Canada distance-wise. Of course, I don't travel as the arrow flies, I go zig-zag.

Thunder Bay is bigger than I thought. It has 110,000 population, and about 20 Km radius of area. I think I remembered that was twin cities of Port Arthur and Fort Williams.
It even had a rush hour traffic today when I arrive on a Friday 5:30pm!!!

So I shall retire early tonight and get ready for the longest ride tomorrow, 850 Km to Timmins, on undivided highways. Plus it is going to have some rain.

Another good day.
