《CCCC Day 18 -- In Cape Breton, Nova Sotia》__ Bonbon Hu (65)

Cross Canada coast to coast   Day 18, June 17, 2014.

In Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.

We had a very good day, sunny at 16C - 22C. Tom/Sherry offered to "drive" me in their car to do the Cabot Trail. That was a fantastic idea. That would allow me to fully enjoy the view without having to pay any attention to the road, GPS, fuel gauge and map, etc.

It took us almost 7 hours, and 435 Km. That saved me all that time and mileage for today, and got to enjoy. Tom/Sherry are locals, and they know almost all the details of everything around here. They were excellent tour guides that identified the geography, history, significance and development of the region. They took me to the appropriate look-out points to see the sceneries. ( If I was riding alone, I would've have missed all the significant points of interest without the background information. )

The sky was blue with a few white clouds, showing off the valleys, lakes, ocean, forests. The trees are in full bloom. It was breezy with few insects, only some small black flies. We saw the Gulf of St. Lawrence, the Atlantic Ocean, the different mountains and water. It would be very comparable to Vancouver.

We bought 12 live lobsters at the pier of Cheticamp for $60. Dinner was beer/wine with lobsters. I had 2 lobsters plus half a bun. It was messy eating them. I had a shower immediately afterwards. They were so good, freshly caught and freshly boiled. I have also learned that if it is over 1.5 lbs, the meat may get too tough and the claws hard to crack open.

I am planning my westbound return trip, and have been delayed by the bad weather forecasts. We shall see what tomorrow brings.
