We were sad to receive the news that Felix Ko, father of our former director Cedric, passed away on July 8, 2011 in Hong Kong.

"He is a born leader, having been an active Scouter in WYK.  He is Chairman of Ricci, and ex-Chairman of the H.K. Federation of Catholic Students." -- The Shield, 1964

Felix was a cub of the 11th Kowloon Group in Primary 6 and went on to become a Scouter when he was in Form 6.  His leadership continued in his years in Ricci Hall, HKU. Later, he continued serving WYK as a Chairman of the Past Students Association and then as one of the managers of WYK.  He came to Toronto regularly with his wife, Gloria, a former Principal of Maryknoll Convent School, to visit his boys, all wahyanites, who were attending university here.

A requiem Mass will be celebrated at 7 p.m. at St. Teresa's Church, Kowloon, on Aug. 5, 2011, and the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Aug. 6, 2011, at St. Joseph's, Garden Road, Hong Kong.

We offer our condolences to Gloria and family.

Letter from Ko Family

Dear friends of Felix,

It is with profound sadness that my husband / father KO Chi-Chung, Felix passed away peacefully on 8th July, 2011 at the age of 69.

The passing away of our beloved Husband / Dad happened so quickly that it came as a shock to all of us.  But we are so grateful to God that Felix had not suffered much and had been able to join hands peacefully with the angels to enter into the Kingdom of God.

I am sure we all have many fond memories of Felix.  He had always been a cheerful man and had been a very persistent entrepreneur in all his business ventures.  He is a loving husband and father, and has always been our anchor for the family.  He was a fun-loving young man who was dedicated to many organizations such as the Boy Scouts and the Legion of Mary.  "He is a born leader, having been an active Scouter in WYK. He is Chairman of Ricci, and ex-Chairman of the H.K. Federation of Catholic Students" (quoted from The Shield, 1964).  He had also been an instrumental player in Wah Yan College Kowloon alumni activities, served as the Chairman of the WYK Past Students Association and then as one of the managers of WYK. He also actively participated and organized reunions and events to ensure we all stayed connected with the school over the years.  He was a very special man, both to our family and to the working community.  We are sure he will be dearly missed by us, our family members and all who know him.

Please be informed that the Vigil Mass is now scheduled at 7:00 pm at St. Teresa’s Church (聖德肋撒堂) at 258 Prince Edward Road West, Kowloon (see Map A attached) on 5th August, 2011 (Friday).  It will be a simple mass with prayers and hymns.

The funeral mass is now fixed at 10:00 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (聖若瑟堂) at 37 Garden Road, Hong Kong (see Map B attached) on 6th August, 2011 (Saturday).  We shall pay our last respect to Felix in the mass, followed by the Cremation Ceremony at Cape Collinson Crematorium.  For relatives and friends who are free and willing to attend the Cremation Ceremony, we have coaches ready to take you all to Cape Collinson Crematorium.  After the Cremation Ceremony, the coaches will take us all to the HKU Alumni Association Club in Central for lunch.

Please REFRAIN FROM sending any WREATHS or FLOWER BASKETS to both churches as they have no manpower to help to clear / clean the baskets afterwards.  We appreciate your care and concern.  Your presence or prayers will have already provided a strong support for us.

God Bless,

Gloria, Erik, Derek and Cedric
