Here is the transcript by Wong Hin-shing and Yu Fong-ying:

                                                                                                6 December, 2014

Dear Hin-Shing:

Your letter and attached photos complete with names arrived a few days ago.

This may not reach you in time to wish you and all those graduates of 1961 a “Merry” not “two” Merry Christmases.  I am not sure how long it will take on the journey, since Christmas always cause(s) unavoidable traffic jams.

Thanks for taking so much time to identify the many 61 in the photos.  So many years have passed, it is not easy to remember the names and put the names on the respective correct individuals.

Too late - Congratulations to Yondani Butt.  My sympathies of his death since he has (since) passed away.

Yes.  Fr Hurley returned to Ireland recently.  He hopes to be able to help to a certain degree.  He had been in Hong Kong for quite a long time but of course very held back at his age.  For him it was a good move.

You may see Mr Anthony Ho soon.  My good wishes to him and of course to all those whose names and photos you have enclosed.

I won’t comment on recent events here.  The young people – many are not hopeful about the future here.  Hence we have those protests.  There are other big problems – housing – 7 ¼ million people.

With every good wish for 2015 and on,

Seosamh Ó Mealláin

My name in my own language.
