Raymond Ng (Bo) and Frederick Chow took an Alaskan cruise together (of course, their better halves came along too) and here is what Bo has to say about the trip,

“Alaska has been a place I have hoped to visit. As Chow Ping Hon shared the same interest, we decided to go together for an 11 night Alaska Cruise in end August on board the Celebrity “Century”.

The voyage started in Vancouver. It was an inside passage cruise. We visited Juneau, Ketchikan, Skagway of Alaska and Victoria of British Columbia. Perhaps it is because it was already August and we were not sailing that north of Alaska, we did not see any iceberg. We did see the glaciers in Ice Strait Point. The only land excursion we joined was in Skagway and Emerald Lake is the highlight of this bus excursion. However, you can actually find more beautiful lakes in the Alberta Rockies.

While we arrived in Victoria, we intended to try the high tea in Empress Hotel. But the $60.00 price tag per person scared us away. We don’t think a high tea should cost more than a decent dinner.

Our cruise ended in San Francisco. Starting from there, Chow Ping Hon and I had different destinations. He rented a car and headed to Yosemite National Park and I was picked up by Sylvia’s relative. One of the highlights during our stay with them was that we were treated a dinner ending up with a total of 10 different types of desserts. Of course, only frequent customers can enjoy those privileges.

Maurice Shiu Man Lai picked me up on the Saturday afternoon and took me to his house. Sylvia really enjoyed the fig which they grew in their backyard. He later treated me a delicious dinner. It had been quite a while since I ate a steamed live sea fish.
