"You will be glad to hear that Fr. Deignan seems to be much better now. I visited him yesterday and have just phoned him now. He will almost certainly be out on Saturday.

On January 25th he didn't feel too well.  I brought him to St. Paul's Hospital and the doctor admitted him immediately.  He had an angioplastie on two arteries that evening.  So pretty urgent.  He left hospital a few days later.  He wasn't really too good.  He was a little dizzy at times. On February 6th or 7th he fainted on the roof and banged his head.  Fortunately no real damage to the head.  But I brought him immediately to St. Paul's.  He was admitted.  For three days the doctor was a bit puzzled as to why he should be dizzy, and finally decided to put in a heart pacemaker.  That was done about February 10th.  Then he rested for a few days and had an angioplastie on one artery yesterday.  No problem, thank God.  He looks and sounds much better now.

Thank you for the concern and I would be grateful if you could circulate the news.  Fr. Deignan will have to be more careful in future.

The news about Fr. Doyle is not so good.  He is making a very slow recovery from his stroke.  But we have no direct medical opinion as he is in Manila.  The Jesuits there will take good care of him.

Please keep Frs. Deignan and Doyle in your prayers.  With renewed thanks.  Sean Coghlan S.J."
