Welcome back to the new academic year. Please join us for our first event, East Meets West: Eurasians and Hong Kong, on Friday, September 29, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the Richard Charles Lee Canada-Hong Hong Library.
Join The Honourable Dr. Vivienne Poy (UofT’s Chancellor Emerita and retired Senator of Canada), Professor Emma Teng (MIT), Professor Lisa Mar (UofT), Ronald Minhinnett (third generation Hong Kong Eurasian) and Dr. Jack Leong (Director of the Library) for a discussion on the importance and insights of Eurasians’ dual heritage. Illustrating the changes in interracial ideology and reception, the speakers will demonstrate how Eurasians arise from being discriminated by racism and prejudice in the past to acceptance and privileges in Hong Kong in recent decade.
