Fr. Deignan, Fr. Naylor and Fr. Zee co-celebrated the requiem mass for Mr. Wilson Hsueh at St. Ignatius Chapel at school on Thursday, August 28, at 7:00PM. Mr. Laurence Tam reports from Hong Kong .....

"I just returned from attending the Requiem Mass for Mr Wilson Hsueh this evening at St Ignatius Chapel, (the school chapel of Wah Yan College, Kowloon) at 56 Waterloo Road, Kowloon.

The Mass was said by Fr Naylor accompanied by Fr Deignan and Fr Sze. The Mass began with the Opening Hymn, followed by the First Reading from the Book of Wisdom and the singing of the Psalm “The Lord is My Shepherd”. Before the Communion Rite, at the introduction of Principal Norman So I read out the brief life history of Mr Wilson Hsueh as what I had written and shown you in my last email. After the reading of the Gospel, five Catholics, including Margaret, led by Principal Norman So, went up to the altar to read out the five passages of the Prayer of the Faithful. After Communion and the “Prayer after Communion”, the gathering sang “Our Captain and Our King” as the concluding hymn, ending a solemn and memorable ceremony in honour of one of our much loved and respected teacher of music in Hong Kong. As the resonance of the school song ringing in the Chapel, the image of the smiling face of my dear friend “Lo Sit” dressed in smart white suite conducting the school choir came to my mind, as if he is greeting us, or perhaps he is saying good-bye to us (?)

The ceremony was attended mostly by the more senior Wah Yan Kowloon old boys. My memory is not too good. Those who still came to my mind were Principal Normal So, Chiu Hay Kau (formerly teacher of WYK), Teddy Wood, Sam Choi Kam Yee, Lee Kai Tak, Fred Wong Tat Cheong, Yang Kin Ping (formerly teacher of WYK), Kang Yiu Ming (presently teacher of WYK), Thomas Tse Chi Wah, Jerry Sin Chi Ming, Philip Tang Lap Fai, Bernard Lim Wan Fung, Lau Wai Hung…….
