Dr. David Chan Tak Yan (WYK Physical Instructor__1947-1952) passed away on Feb.28, 2017. He was 91 and had been a survivor of Parkinson's Disease for 22 years. After he left Wah Yan, he pursued further study in the USA and United Kingdom and graduated with a Doctor of Divinity from Edinburgh University. He went back to Hong Kong to serve as Principal of Tsung Tsin College (崇真書院) and taught part-time at the Theology Department at Chung Chi College (崇基學院). He immigrated to Canada and served as a pastor in Victoria, Toronto and Windsor in the Presbyterian Church since 1970. He retired in 1984. Mrs. Roseanna Chan had been a lecturer at Hong Kong Northcote College of Education and they have one daughter and two sons and four grand children.

Saturday, March 25th, 2017 at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, 8911 Woodbine Ave. north of Hyw16, Markham. From 9:30-10:30 is the time for viewing and the funeral service starts at 10:30. Rev. Chan Wai Chiu of the Lutheran Tsingchun Church and The Rev. Canon Edmund Der (his former student) of St. James Cathedral, Anglican, will officiate. The burial will be at Highland Memorial Gardens on Don Mills and Steeles immediately following the service, and a fellowship lunch will be held at Mandarin Buffet at Woodbine for all family and friends.
