R.I.P.
When the Class of 61 in Toronto prepared to celebrate their 50th Year of F5 Graduation, Hin-Shing Wong suggested that the first item at the Reunion dinner should be to remember the Fathers, teachers and classmates who had passed away. The idea was accepted and he started to collect materials for a slideshow. Searching diligently in the internet, Hin-Shing was excited but sad to find a web page of Mr. Fung. It was sent out to the Class of 61 and his students poured in their memories of their beloved teacher. Click the here to read the article.
Francis Ho passed away in Montreal last Thursday, June 9.
Francis was the School Captain in 1957-58, heading a team of Prefects who included Andrew So Kwok Wing, (Rev.) George Zee, John Lee Yiu Kwong, (Dr.) StanislausTang Wing Kuen and other able prefects. Since his arrival in Canada in the sixties, he had settled in Montreal. A member of WYKAAO, he tried to attend our functions and meet with his class of 57 whenever he came to Toronto. His presence was refreshing in any company. His absence would be greatly missed at our gatherings. May he rest in peace.

Damien Ku Chi Chung (古志眾) passed away on May 11 in Hong Kong. This sad news came as a great shock to all his Wah Yan friends. It was on May 5 that they received an email from him, saying that he realized only 17 days ago he had cancer originated from the thymus gland spreading to liver and bones and that he had received four radiation therapies, waiting for chemotherapy treatment. A devout Catholic, he placed his trust in God and asked them for prayers.
Damien spent 8 years in Wah Yan Kowloon from Primary 6 in 1956 to Upper Six Science in 1963 and went on to Hong Kong University to complete an engineering degree. Always cheerful and friendly, he could be singled out in all his class photos with his smiling face. View his album here.
May he rest in peace. The family appreciates all the good wishes and prayers and there is no need to send any flowers and gifts.

Dear Friends of Fr. Doyle,
I have just been informed by a Jesuit scholastic in Manila that our beloved Fr. Francis Doyle had just returned to God! This is indeed a very saddening turn of event. But we trust in the merciful God who must have prepared a much better place for his son, Francis, to be with Him eternally! Let us pray for Fr. Doyle's eternal peace and consolation for his loved ones! In prayers

His two sons, Man-yiu Henry (64) and Man-lai Patrick (67), both attended WYK and so did his son-in-law, Ho Sun-lam Terence (63).

We received the sad news that Jim Fung passed away on June 7 after years of battle with cancer.

With Leung Kon-Woh passing away on November 09, 2009, another link to the days of WYK at Nelson Street is broken. After graduating in the forties, Leung became a teacher at an Anglican school. Retired in Toronto, he reconnected with WYKAAO in the 2007 fall picnic. During his final years at a Long Term Care Centre, he was a polite and friendly gentleman to all the nursing staff and fellow residents. His absence was greatly missed.
Our sincerest condolences to his family.
