Cross Canada coast to coast  Day 12 June 11, 2014.

In GTA ( Greater Toronto Area )

Due to poor planning and gauge of distance, I pre-booked a motorcycle service appointment for 8 am today in Newmarket. It turned out to be 75 Km of riding in soaking rain (again), (the Rain-god loves me), from Mississauga, leaving at 6:45 am.

My friend, Howard, volunteered to drive his car to escort me. It turned out to be a blessing. I couldn't see much, plus with traffic congestion, I depended on him leading the way, and I followed closely behind.

About 2 blocks from the bike shop, my motorcycle stalled in the middle of my left turn in the intersection. Thank goodness there was no traffic oncoming to my way. I restarted the engine a few times, and it stalled a few meters later. On & on, I got to the bike shop. It was supposed to be a simple oil change. Thank goodness I made it there, and they looked into the diagnosis right away. I was so glad that Howard was with me at the time as my back-up. I was worried that it might need extensive repair, and ordering parts for several days. It turned out that there was a loose wire connection, and it was repaired after 2.5 hours.

I was very lucky. Suppose my bike stalled at 40 Km from the shop on the highway! Suppose I stalled at the intersection with a oncoming truck! Suppose my bike stalled 2 Km after I left the bike shop! I am grateful.

The traffic congestion on the freeway scared me, for Km after Km even at 7:30 am.
Then we went to visit the granduncle of Creigdon, since we were in the neighbourhood.  Louis Hui, an uncle of Alphonsus Hui, has been practicing dentistry in Newmarket for decades. We hadn't met each other since Loyola days. He was my room-mate once in the dormitory. The drop-in visit was pleasant. It was neat to find out that he is also a dentist doing acupuncture. He is a WYHK '62.

The return ride to Mississauga was good because there was no rain, and the engine ran nicely. It is good again.

Howard drove me to Milton to visit his elder daughter and son-in-law. Chris built the house himself. It is still a "project" - on-going. I treated their family with acupuncture. (Case description confidential and unavailable.)

After we had come back to Mississauga, had wine and cheese and then went out for sushi.

I have decided to stay in GTA for another day, because the weather forecast is for heavy rain east of Toronto. I mean HEAVY rain.

I will start to plan my following 3 days by tomorrow, depending on the weather.

Another lucky day!
