My Doggerel -- Thoughts Upon Reaching the 45th Anniversary of College
Graduation Yu Fong-ying
The majesty of an emperor on stage is to be admired;
Forty-five years make but one drama.
Many parts have I played: from noble to clown;
Just as many flavours I have savoured.
Two score and ten, to a foreign land I was driven;
And at three score, the fugitive held the family whole.
What one has gained is in in fear of fading like mist;
What one has lost one should not expect back.
Achieving what the heart desires -- O, no easy way:
Looking up, I would the vaulted sky be one clear blue.
