The two Past Students Associations of Wah Yan will hold a joint birthday party for Fr Deignan in the school hall of WYK on March 23. Check their web sites for details.

Edmund Ho (64) of Vancourver writes,"I arrived Hong Kong yesterday and today I visited Mr. Tam in QEH. He looked weak and today he had fever, but he enjoyed my visit. Mrs. Tam was there as well.
I showed him a picture of our outdoor activity in Art Club in 1962, and immediately he called most of the students on the photo by name. He has an impressive memory. He also reviewed my very recent pastel painting. He looked at it for a long while, then he said to me,'You have come a long way in art. You are an in-born artist and you have attained a professional standard.'
His book《Examples of Understanding Hong Kong Art through Culture》is published and will be officially released this Saturday. He signed one book for me."
Dominic Chan (64) of Toronto writes,"Tam sir, many thanks in advance for your book. How are you lately? Feeling better now. Last year I picked up drawing again. This time I tried out acrylic on canvas and was planning to draw one for each of the places I visited in the past. See what you think..."

Spring Banquet 2013 was successfully held on March 2 in a Chinese restaurant. About 80 guests, members, families and friends attended the program-packed event. Fr. Robert Wong S.J., our honoured guest, gave a brief overview of the Jesuits organization in Canada. David Wong (64) summarized his views from the fengshui aspect of the Year of the Snake. Like our Talents Show back in the school days, Fred Fung (72) and Bill Fok (68) brought down the house with their singing performances. Mr. Anthony Ho updated the audience with the latest news from WYK and encouraged donations to help repairing/upgrading our school facilities. $940 was collected right at the spot. Together with prior online contributions, we have raised well over $1,000 for the campaign.

1994年9月, 跟茂生和我相熟的一位香港好友, 告訴我茂生逝世的消息, 那時茂生正值壯年, 我萬分驚異, 簡直不敢相信。1987年他赴美後, 我在港, 他在美; 我教英語, 他教中國語文和文學, 專業學術研究。 我們不常來往, 但他每經過香港多會和我聚一聚。1990年我一家四口到過加州戴維斯市(Davis) 探訪他和范光中女士新婚倆口子。約在92, 93年, 他往上海做實地考察, 我們又匆匆地見了一次面,怎知道那是最後的一面。
90年代,教育界一班朋友在《信報》闢了一個專欄, 叫〈教育眼〉,我也有供稿,好友知道, 所以就請我寫點記念茂生的文字, 在那里發表, 這就是《悼念吳茂生》一文的由來。 因為趕截稿時間, 文章只憑當時所記,匆匆寫成。而執筆之時, 知道移民加拿大到期, 心情正忐忑不安, 好友遽爾死去, 天人永隔, 想抵達美洲後再探他都成幻望, 內心多添一份悲憤, 文章結尾, 不禁有搔首問天之歎。

農曆新年，我飛到愛爾蘭，探望八十九歲的神父。同行的，還有一個舊同學。
我們拖着行李，走進神父的房間。神父展露愉快的笑容。
神父比半年前又消瘦了一點，但精神尚好，拿着一支手杖走路。
「不拿手杖也可以啊！」神父想即場示範，我立刻阻止。
我們在護老院外漫步，風很冷，我打了個寒噤，神父穿的不比我多，但似乎很適應天氣。
