(September 15th) On a cool Sunday morning, Team WYKAAO joined the annual Terry Fox Run at the Markham-Unionville run site. The route is revised a bit this year and it doesn’t affect the excitement and most of all, the donations. The team collectively raised $5,400 through online channels. The total would exceed $5,900 (a record) after adding the mailed-in response to the pledges. Click here to see the pictures.
Thanks to over 60 donors, Team WYKAAO has raised $5,300.00 for a worthy cause. With some committed pledges coming in the mail, the total will be $5,800.00. The Run Site is in the scenic Too Good Pond area. The fun starts at 9:00AM. Come to enjoy a beautiful morning.
Team WYKAAO will continue to run this year. Please join us or donate to the team. Click here for details and click here to read the community newsletter from the Run organizer.

"The scholarship program under Father Deignan Education Studio (狄恆教室) has just been launched. One hundred students coming from less fortunate families would be benefited. They are from the two St. Bonaventure Primary Schools (聖文德小學) where Father Stephen Chan Moon Tong, (OFM 方濟會), is their school supervisor (1998~2004; 2007~now). 陳滿鴻神父 (WYK65) has been successfully working with staff, pupils and parents.

This year, St. Patrick's Day falls on a Sunday. The Irish and their friends have planned parties in downtown Toronto to celebrate the day. There will be, as in previous years, one of the biggest parades in the city. People wear green or even painted their faces green. (Remember our green blazers at school?)
90 years ago in 1923, William Butler Years (1865-1939) was the first Irish to be awarded The Nobel Prize in Literature, "for his always inspired poetry, which in a highly artistic form gives expression to the spirit of a whole nation".
Yu Fong-ying (61) of Vancouver has selected some of his poems including, The Lake Isle of Innisfree and When You Are Old, to share with our readers to enjoy the day.
