The 2008 Valentine Ball was successfully held on February 9th at the Sheraton Parkway North Hotel. WYKAAO’s four tables were among the 45 tables of guests enjoying a wonderful evening of good food, live entertainment and dancing. Our past president Kelvin Chan was the co-chair of the event for the second time.
The next Valentine Ball will be held exactly on February 14th 2009, the exact Valentine Day. Please stay tuned for more details.
Classmates from all over the world gathered together in Hong Kong from November 16th to 23rd to celebrate the 40th graduaton annviersary of the class of 1967. The week-long event started out with a welcome dinner, followed by a session at WYK when classamte Herman Wong How-man gave an account of his journey of discovery of the source of Yangtze River. Our own tour of disocvery began with a 3-day trip to Macau and Guangdong Province, and then it was back to Hong Kong for an evening at the Happy Valley tracks as well as a day-long tour of Hong Kong. The finale event, the farewell dinner on the 23rd, was held eaxactly 40 years to the day of the class’s speech day back in 1967.
Since the formation of the forum in 2003, an annual gathering has been organized by the class of 65 in North America. This year, rhapsody 2007 was held in Sidney-by-the-Sea in Victoria from the 5th to 8th in October. Francis Ho (賀燁樑) took over the reign from Edwin Tse who organized the rhapsody 2006 in Ste-Agathe-des-Monts in the Laurentians.
Following the successful week long reunion in Hong Kong in November, local Toronto members held our reunion on 5 December at the Empire Legendary Oriental Cuisine.
The 2007 Annual General Meeting was successfully held on 3 November with 7 tables of members, family members and guests. Louis Lau (1957) gave a very interesting talk on the life in Wah Yan and the Jesuits. Elaine Chau, daughter of Simon Chau (1971) and Adrain Kwok, son of Philip Kwok (1968) were the recipients of the Scholastic Achievement Awards. Tony Wong (1977) from Hong Kong briefed us on the Wah Yan One Family Walkathon and fund raising.
From WYCHKPSA web site - We are glad to report the Walkathon 2007 was successful held yesterday. Here are the snapshots:
- Number of attendance during opening: More than 3000
- Full house mass celebration
- Record breaking: 2500 took the ferry across the harbour to end at WYHK
- Amount raised by the fund raising: approximate HK$40 million
- A harmonious family atmosphere
Thanks to your generosity, WYKAAO was able to raise $7,000.00 for the Terry Fox Foundation.
