Father Ciaran F. Kane, former Director of Adam Schall Residence of United College, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, passed away at the age of eighty on 5 February 2013 in Hong Kong.
Born in Durbin, Ireland in 1932, Father Ciaran F. Kane was a graduate of the University College Dublin (National University of Ireland). He entered the Society of Jesus in 1958 and was ordained as a priest in 1964. Father Kane came to Hong Kong in 1958 and was a teacher of the two Wah Yan Colleges in Hong Kong. From Alvin, son of Alexis,
"I regret to inform you that Alexis Lo passed away. He had been admitted into the hospital for internal bleeding on 12/18/2012. After abdominal surgery, they found stage 4 stomach cancer. My father had always feared getting cancer, so we decided not to tell him until he recovered from his abdominal surgery. However, his conditioned worsened and he got pneumonia. He died at 3:37 am with my mother (Marina) by his side on 1/15/2013. His funeral is planned for 2/1/2013, 11am, at Rose Hills Cemetary (Memorial Chapel), 3888 Workman Mill Road, Whittier, CA, USA. Thank you for your friendship to my father for all these years."

by his younger brother, John Wong Cheng (F5C, 1960), on 2011.09.08.
Born in Shanghai, China, Alexander received his music training at the National Conservatory of Music in Shanghai.
After arriving in Hong Kong, starting in 1952, he was a violist in the former Sino-British Orchestra, now known as Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. By 1955, he was the soloist tenor in both Crescendo Choral Society and Hong Kong Choral Group. He also gave several solo performances in Hong Kong.
Alexander taught at Wah Yan College, Kowloon from 1954 to 1959 as its music teacher. He was the conductor for Trial by Jury in 1955 and HMS Pinafore in 1956, both by Gilbert and Sullivan. During his tenure as the music teacher, WYK won several awards in Music Festivals. [Click here for Mr. Wong's farewell recital at WYK in 1959]
From Mr. Laurence Tam in HK, "I have just returned from attending the Requiem Mass for Ms Hwong Yin Fong, Agnes.
As you probably know, Agnes was the music teacher of Wah Yan College, Kowloon in the years 1993 to 2006 and in the years 2010 to 2011. I had the chance of getting acquainted with her at the lunch gatherings of the retired teachers of WYK.
A form of regular lunch gathering of retired WYK teachers has been held for some time at Sun Sing Restaurant near WYK. It takes place once every three months. As usual, I took the opportunity to record those who took part in the lunch gathering a few months after my return to Hong Kong. Attached (click here) is one of the two pictures I took of the lunch gathering on 2 March 2010. There were two tables of retired teachers on that day. The attached shows those in one of them with Ms Hwong sitting on the extreme right. I did not see her in the last few WYK retired teachers luncheons. Then suddenly I got the sad news that she passed away. Being a member of the big family of WYK, I went to pay my respect to her and prayed for the peace of her soul this morning.
May she rest in peace in the arms of The Almighty."
