Fr. John Russell went peacefully to the Lord on September 22, 2023, at St. Paul Hospital, Hong Kong, at 3:27 p.m. Cause of death: pneumonia
Fr. Russell was born in Dublin, Ireland on Aug. 24, 1926. He entered the Society at Emo, Co. Laois, Ireland, Ireland, on Nov. 12, 1943; was ordained to the priesthood on July 31, 1957 in Milltown Park, Dublin, and professed the final vows on Feb. 2, 1961 at the church of the Gesù, Rome. St. Francis' Canossian College Alumni Association Ontario held its 2023 annual dinner at Golden Court Abalone Restaurant on Friday September 15. A number of joint-school friends including Jeff Mah from WYKAAO also attended the event.
The Award is open to students whose aggregate total of their best six Grade 12 credits gained in 2022~2023 academic year is 480 or over. Details of the award, its qualifications and the application form can be found here. The completed application form must be submitted on or before 22nd October 2023.
Successful candidates will be notified and announced at WYKAAO Annual General Meeting on Sunday, 29th October 2023. This year a lunch gathering will follow the AGM.

Team Wah Yan had a friendly soccer game with CUHK Alumni on Sunday September 10 at Bayview Reservoir Park.
A dinner gathering was held on Sunday September 3 at Golden Court Abalone Restaurant, after a karaoke party at Studio 9 together with friends from Advanced Singing and guests.
From Wilson So (’82), “Thanks all for coming out to play this afternoon to make this another successful year of joint school soccer fun day. It was my honor to coordinate Team Wah Yan for this annual event and I am so blessed to see everyone gives it all the moment you step onto the field. We lost to St Joe and La Salle narrowly by one goal and managed to beat Salesian by 3-1.”
